HOWDY! I’m Rachel- farmer in charge, boss lady extraordinaire at Seven Moon Farm. A born flatlander, I grew up in Maryland, and moved to Maine in 2015 after receiving a degree in Anthropology and becoming thoroughly discouraged by global food economics.
I cut my teeth farming with a MOFGA Apprenticeship. Two seasons later, I knew organic farming was for me, but wasn’t ready to commit. I sowed my wild oats traveling and WWOOFing, returning to Maine once I was certain this was the place for me. I began working on farm crews in the mid coast, building the skills and courage to start Seven Moon Farm in 2021. I am a proud MOFGA Journeyperson alumni, and strive for this farm to be holistic blend of my values, goals, and skills while nourishing the socio-environmental landscape it resides in.
Seven Moon Farm is woman owned and operated. We are a reduced tillage, biodiverse small organic farm, growing veggies + dry flowers for wholesale and farmer’s market. We use a lot of hand tools but we also love steel in the field! Our faithful farm dogs, Arlo and Nelly, are the best field supervisors we could ask for.
When I’m not farming, I love being on the water, photography, cooking, and reading in bed. My partner, Nate, supports me in more ways than I could ever list, and Seven Moon Farm has so much to thank him for. Big love to you, bb <3
